Today, we had breakfast and went swimming. Around noon, we got into Putu's car and left for Kuta. First, we went to the beach that's so famous. It isn't so special. It's just a normal, sandy, crowded beach. It might be famous for surfers, because the water is warm and comfortable and the waves are not too big and not too small. When we finished with the beach, we had a little shopping session. We got a few t-shirts and some DVDs. When we finished with that, we went to the spot where Bali was bombed. I couldn't even tell, it just looked like a space with no building, but I guess the horrible part was that so many people were in that one building. Then, we went to see a huge statue. It was huge! There were two of them. I was surprised when Putu told us that they were only 20% finished. One statue was a giant bird and the other was a man riding on the bird. It's going to be huge! Then, we went to a temple/monkey forest. We weren't allowed into the temple, but we got to see the monkeys! Fact of the Day: If some day you go to this monkey forest, do NOT get a picture right in front of the monkey if you have any jewelry including earrings, even if they're stubs. Allison was wearing stub earrings, and she got a picture taken right in front of a monkey. While Allison was standing there, the monkey ran up to her and stole one of Allison's earrings right out of her ear. Allison said it didn't hurt, and it didn't leave a mark. Someone got the earring back, but the monkey still has the back of the earring. I still felt horrible for the monkeys, because two guys taunted them by pretending to throw rocks at them and they held out food for the monkeys but when the monkey reached for them, the guy pulled it away from the monkey. Then, we got back in the car. We stopped at a little surf thing to take pictures. We went to dinner, but when we got there, Mom and I felt sick, so we went back to the hotel. I had a great day (except for the sick part). |
