My First Day

JENNA

Today, we finally got to Singapore after eighteen hours on the plane. We settled into our room for a while, and then we went around the city in a cab. We stopped to walk in the places where you could shop. We went walking in Chinatown. My favorite part of Chinatown was a booth where you sat down and a man made a little plastic sculpture of you. The finishing product is incredibly realistic. The man adds every little detail. He even makes your shirt pattern! You wouldn't believe it only took the man only twenty minutes to make it! We didn't get any today, but we plan to get one while we're here. We also stopped at a Buddhist temple where a woman was sick and being healed. In order to perform this ceremony, the woman put herself into a trance. They say that this is a spiritual trance and the woman is temporarily being possessed by a god. At the Hindu temple that we went to see, there was nothing happening in it. The amazing thing about it is the outside of the building. There were fake people molded into the outside walls of the temple. There were hundreds of them, each of them being unique. They were all life-sized. We drove around Little India, but we didn't walk around because we all still had jet lag. After that, we went back to the hotel to rest for a couple of hours. We all had dinner at a food court full of food stands. It was great! I had some rice and I had some of everyone else's food. In the taxi on the way home, we saw fireworks. They were nothing fancy, but they were still fun to watch. I can't wait for tomorrow!
